“Accessibility for All”

Celebration of the ADA: 20 years.

July 26th marked the 20th anniversary of the signing of the American’s with Disabilities Act.  This landmark legislation has paved the way for the civil right protection of individuals with disabilities and guarantees equal opportunity for public accommodation, employment, and transportation.  Celebrations were held throughout the country to commemorate the passing of this momentous legislation which took one large leap towards increased accessibility for individuals with disabilities.  Read the President’s remarks on the 20th Anniversary of the ADA at: https://obamawhitehouse.archives.gov/the-press-office/remarks-president-20th-anniversary-americans-with-disabilities-act

Florida Office on Disability & Health.

The Florida Office on Disability and Health (FODH) was created in 2007 through a grant from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).  The mission of FODH is to maximize the health, well-being, participation, & quality of life, throughout the lifespan of all Floridians & their families living with disability.

Partner Highlight: The National Center on Physical Activity & Disability.

The FODH is part of a National Network of Resource Centers and today we would like to highlight The National Center on Physical Activity & Disability (NCPAD). NCPAD is a valuable resource for anyone looking to increase their own physical activity and live a healthier life, or to learn about interventions that work for persons with disability.  NCPAD is located in Chicago, IL., and uses the web and interactive services to help people of all abilities become more active and make healthier food choices.  For more information, please visit http://www.ncpad.org/index.php
